About Pier 24

The Pilara Family Foundation retained PWP in 2007 manage the renovation and adaptive re-use of Pier 24 Annex for their extensive photographic collection. The project, a former cargo warehouse on the Embarcadero, met the Department of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Rehabilitation. It was completed and opened to the public in in 2009 and is the largest exhibition space dedicated to the collection and preservation of photography in North America.  It has received accolades from around the world.

 

PWP prepared financial feasibility studies, negotiated and secured approval for the lease with the San Francisco Port Commission and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, secured all necessary permits and entitlements for the project, and managed the entire development in 22 months.
